United Women had their biggest win of the season, beating mid-table Procision Oxford 3-0 this afternoon.

There are likely to be few dissenters to the view that this was also their best performance of the season, playing some neat close passing football which at times was a delight to watch.

Banbury dominated the first half but missed chances meant that it was goalless at half time. In fact, Procision might have been, against the run of play, in front at the break as they were, in a rare attack, denied in the final minute by the crossbar. The second half would see Banbury continue to dominate and Zoe Pugh hit the bar after just 15 seconds but they didn’t have long to wait to go ahead, scoring the goal they fully deserved through Leema Galloway on 52 minutes. Having scored, Banbury took inspiration from this and were even more dominant in the rest of the game, scoring further goals on 71 minutes through Pugh and then on 86 minutes through Ellie Beecroft.

United have now moved nine points clear of the relegation zone and with home games for the next three Sundays, two against teams below them in the table, they may well soon be looking towards a mid-table position.
