4. Who runs Banbury United?

As a member-owned Club, Banbury United has a board and management team consisting of elected members. Besides our commercial manager and community coaches, everyone is a volunteer, a fan of the Club giving what time they have available around other professional commitments.

Here is an organisational chart, showing how the Club is run.

Meet our Board Members

Chairman, Ronnie Johnson

Ronnie is devoted to Banbury United having been a player, director, chairman and ambassador over the years.

“My feeling for my hometown club has never diminished. I have a sincere passion for the grassroots game. I love being actively involved in projects and raising awareness for Banbury United within the community and the football and business world.”

As chairman, Ronnie oversaw major reforms at Banbury United in August 2015 as the Club transitioned to become supporter-owned. His tenure also saw United regain their Southern League Premier status at the first attempt. He stepped down in September 2017, to concentrate on his successful business Star UK Travel, and returned as chairman in 2022. Ronnie has announced that he will step aside at the end of the 23/24 season.

He has experience at the non-league and grassroots level. He has several years' professional experience in risk management, governance, and commercial operations, working across sectors including insurance, retail, technology, and manufacturing.

"I have recently moved to Banbury, my wife’s hometown, and truly believe that this club does, and should, lie at the very heart of the community. I’ve seen first-hand the selfless and tireless work that the many volunteers and staff undertake on a day-to-day basis, and I am privileged to work alongside them. It is no secret that clubs like ours face adversity and challenges at every turn, and I have every intention of using my experience to help Banbury United to continue as a sustainable, valuable, and successful community team.”

Claire Dumbreck

Claire joined the board one year ago. She owns a specialist PR consultancy and looks after communications and marketing at Banbury United, alongside overseeing business processes at the Club.

"I have lived in Banbury for 20 years and my two children were “Born in the Horton General.” My son plays for a Banbury United junior football team. I am evangelical about sport as a force for good. This Club is one of our town’s greatest assets and I challenge anyone to talk Banbury down after experiencing the atmosphere at the The Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium! I'm here to give back to the town that has looked after me and my family."
