The previously advertised event “An evening with Phil Thompson” has been rescheduled from Friday 6th October 2023 to Friday 16th February 2024. The event will still take place at the Banbury United Plant Hire Community Stadium and tickets can be purchased here. Previously purchased tickets remain valid.
Concept Events joined forces with Banbury United to host an evening with Liverpool legend Phil Thompson as a fundraiser for the club. Concept Events, owned by former Banbury United goalkeeper Kevin Baker answered an appeal from his old club to support its fundraising campaign with proceeds from ticket sales contributing to the running costs of the second season in The National League North.
Guests will be treated to a live Q&A with Thompson, who won multiple honours for Liverpool in the 70s and 80s and was capped 42 times for England. The event will be hosted by stand-up comedian Steve Broadbent.
The venue has a fully licensed bar and will be holding a prize raffle, auction and a pop-up memorabilia shop on the night.
The event will start at 7pm. General admission tickets are £25 and VIP tickets are £45 plus fees and can be purchased here.
This exclusive show will see a LIVE and UNSCRIPTED interview with Thompson as he reminisces about his glorious football memories old and new. Enjoy real-life insights into his career at one of the greatest football clubs in world football: Liverpool FC.
Thompson was a mainstay of the all-conquering Liverpool side of the 70s and 80s, playing more than 450 matches for the club. He won almost every honour in the modern game, helping the Reds win seven league titles, three European cups, one FA Cup, three league cups and two UEFA cups as a player and captain. He was capped 42 times by England.
He played for Liverpool greats Bill Shankley and Bob Paisley and had stints as reverse manager after he retired from playing, including assisting Gerard Houllier.
