. Banbury United

Banbury United welcome AFC Stamford to the TUGO Community Stadium on Saturday looking to secure a much-needed three points.

Kelvin Langmead’s Puritans currently sit 19th in the Southern League Premier Central, with one win, three draws and five defeats from their opening nine league games. Despite a difficult start, Banbury have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, with Levi Steele providing a key attacking threat since joining from Ardley United. Joel Anker, Aaron McCreadie and Alex Prosser have also been influencing proceedings and will be looking to make the difference again on Saturday.

The Daniels

Ant Fenton’s men arrive at the TUGO Community Stadium bottom of the table having lost all nine of their league matches. The Daniels have scored just once while conceding 25 goals, with their last five league games producing 20 goals against them. Defeats to Needham Market, Bishop’s Stortford and Kettering Town have left Ant Fenton’s newly assembled side searching desperately for their first points.

There is experience within the Stamford squad, with veteran midfielder Jon Challinor and striker Mark Jones among the players capable of causing problems for Banbury.

Previous Meetings

Banbury and Stamford have shared a relatively even recent head-to-head record, with the two sides winning two of their last four meetings. The most recent encounter came in April, when Stamford claimed a convincing 4-0 victory on home soil.

That result came after Banbury had enjoyed a 2-0 victory over the Daniels at the TUGO Community Stadium earlier in the season. Stamford had also won the corresponding fixture in April 2025, running out 2-0 winners, while Banbury's previous home meeting ended in a 1-0 victory for the Puritans in September 2024.
